Tennis coach Patrick Mouratoglou explained the difference he saw in Spain’s service of Carlos Alcaraz. The 21-year-old is regarded as one of the best players currently playing in men’s tennis in the singles category, along with the likes of Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
Famous tennis coach Mouratoglou, who is currently working with the former world number one Japan’s Naomi Osaka, has highlighted the difference he has seen in the service of Alcaraz in the recent past. He talked about that in a post on the social media platform Instagram.
“I see two things on that photo of Carlos Alcaraz,” he said. “First thing, the right leg which is going so far up, and the second thing I see is his left arm, which is going so far back also after the serve. What does it say? It says one big thing, how loose he is, how relaxed. There is no muscular tension that prevents his leg from going so far back and high. There is no muscular tension that prevents his left arm from going far to the left.”
Alcaraz is going through a bit of a difficult phase. His start to the 2025 season has not been a great one. The former world number one participated in the Australian Open, where he was knocked out of the competition after losing in the quarterfinal to Serbia’s legendary tennis star Novak Djokovic with a score of 4-6, 6-4, 6-3, 6-4.
Most recently, Alcaraz participated in the Qatar Open, where he was knocked out after losing in the quarterfinal, this time against Czech Republic’s Jiri Lehecka with a score of 6-3, 3-6, 6-4. The four-time Grand Slam winner’s only impressive performance this season came in an ATP event in Rotterdam, where he lifted the title after beating Australia’s Alex de Minaur in the final with a score of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2.
