Carlos Alcaraz will contest the 3rd ATP 500 final this year as the Spaniard battled past Alex Molcan in Hamburg.
It was a tricky match for Alcaraz who did not play as well as he did in the previous round but still much better than in the first two rounds of the event. Carlitos was on top early 4-2 but he squandered that lead allowing Molcan to get to 5-5 thanks to a very weird sequence of events that saw four consecutive breaks of serve. The 2nd set was much better by Alcaraz but also worse from Molcan:
"It was tough. Obviously he played really well. The first set was really close. I'm really happy to be able to end the first set playing well. In the second set, I think he was down a little bit. He didn't play well in the second set. I finished the match with a lot of confidence and played very well."
Up next for him is fellow Next-gener Lorenzo Musetti who will contest his first career final. The Italian is playing really well and Alcaraz is fully aware:
"Lorenzo is playing really well. Of course, he's a great player. It's going to be a great final. He has played great matches before the final. [I have] as well, so I have a lot of confidence for the final and hope to make it six-for-six."
