Novak Djokovic altered his legacy forever by opting not to take the COVID-19 vaccine and he admitted it wasn't an easy decision.
Nobody will know whether Djokovic could have or would have won the Australian Open or the US Open had he participated in the events but he certainly would not have been without chances. Him not taking the vaccine left him without any chances as he couldn't compete and forever altered his legacy as many criticised him for the decision.
Speaking in Israel he explained his feelings about the situation:
"Watching the Grand Slam matches from home, when you know you are ready and prepared to be there, is not not easy at all, but it is a situation that I have to accept: I made a decision and these are the consequences of that decision, and of this I am aware and convinced."
He's not the only athlete that famously refused the vaccine as NBA player Kyrie Irving did the same. He also faced consequences and backlash over his decision recently admitting that he left millions of dollars on the table because of it.
