Andy Murray was asked about Djokovic's refusal to get vaccinated and the British player offered his honest opinion on the matter.
Following his win over O'Connell in Dubai, Murray was asked about Djokovic and his stance of unwillingness to take the vaccine. It's something Murray anticipated he would be asked as the British player has been a very vocal advocate of vaccination on the tour since they became available. Murray even mocked conspiracy theorists publicly by writing that he got his 3rd microchip a few months ago when he got his booster dose.
"I think it would be a lot easier for him obviously if he was to get vaccinated. But I also didn't like seeing him in the situation that he was in Australia as someone that I respect, have known since I was a child."
Murray further said:
"There are consequences to the decisions he's made just now. He obviously has to accept that. But I don't think it's great for tennis if our best player is not competing in the major events."
