Holger Rune was accused of faking an injury on social media platform Twitter and he responed to it by pointing out that he never quites in a final.
Rune was playing Botic van de Zandschulp in the Munich Open final rolling his ankle in the final set. It looked a bit dangerous but Rune opted to continue the match after taking a medical timeout and his tremendous comeback became suspicious to some. He was down a break in the final set but rallied to win it in the tiebreak with someone accusing him of faking the injury to confuse his opponent.
The fan wrote:
"Rune is such a con artist on court with makeshift injuries playing Munich final. Was being out played like the baby he is and pretend injury 🤕 to put off opponent he is such a child no problem running full speed to the net"
He responded:
"I played more than 10 matches the past 2 weeks. My body is done right now but still, I wanted to fight till the end. It’s a final. I don’t quit."
