Eugenie Bouchard is through to the final round of
Madrid Open qualifying after Sara Sorribes-Tormo who recently returned from injury herself retired at 6-1, 4-1 down to the Canadian on Monday afternoon.
Bouchard will now play Elizabeth Mandlik, daughter of tennis legend Hana Mandlikova tomorrow for a spot in the main draw which was confirmed on Sunday evening.
She heads straight from W100 Oeiras where she beat Diane Parry but lost comfortably to eventual champion, Danka Kovinic.
Her only other appearance since the Australian Open was a loss to Kamilla Rakhimova at Copa Colsanitas in Bogota.
Now she will have the chance to make her first main draw of a WTA 1000 of the season.
