Eugenie
Bouchard received a warm welcome upon her arrival in Madrid.
Upon
arriving at the hotel where she will be staying in Madrid, the Canadian
received the support of the staff, following her difficult return to the tour
after an injury. Bouchard had to undergo surgery that kept her off the courts
for 17 months, and since her return, she has not had the best results.
In 2023,
she has participated in four tournaments, was eliminated in the qualifying
rounds of the Australian Open and ASB Classic, as well as reaching the round of
16 in the ITF Oeiras Ladies Open in Portugal and the WTA 250 Copa Colsanitas in
Colombia. She found messages of support on her bathroom mirror at the hotel.
“What a
cute welcome!" Bouchard wrote on her Instagram.
In her
debut at the Madrid Open, Bouchard will play against the Spanish player Sara
Sorribes Tormo in the first round of the qualifying.
