Carlos Alcaraz secured the number one rank after beating compatriot Ramos-Vinolas and he will be the number one seed at Roland Garros which is a big deal.
Alcaraz has been widely considered the best player right now with Djokovic not playing much and Nadal injured. He proved it in Madrid and he will be the number one seed in Paris at the upcoming Roland Garros. That will make his road to the trophy a bit easier and he's glad about it. It's not something he could have imagined:
"The first round of every tournament is very tough. Albert Ramos is a really tough opponent. I had to adapt my game really quickly to be able to get through. The conditions wasn't easy as well. The rain, the waiting all day. I'm really happy with my performance at the end."
On the match itself Alcaraz admitted that it was a bit tough with the conditions and all but he's glad to be through:
It's great to be number one seed in Roland Garros. It's something crazy that I couldn't believe. For me it doesn't change too much to be number one or number two. Just focus on the tournament, my game, every match. I try not to think about but it's great to be number one."
