Rafael Nadal will make his return to action at the Brisbane International and then Australian Open as his potential 2024 swansong begins. But Fabrice Santoro believes that if he can get back to his best and win Roland Garros, he is 'superhuman'.
Santoro said to L'Equipe that even coming back is a miracle in itself and is not natural for a player of his age to do so. But despite doubts being there surrounding the great Spaniard, he said the fact he has come back means that he has already won the battle.

Colossal effort to even return

He said that he had goosebumps watching him announce his comeback due to the amount of passion and 'sincerity' that he puts into it and that given his efforts to return to the court, it should be seen as 'colossal'.
“It’s not natural, especially at his age. His post (last Friday) is beautiful, super touching. I had goosebumps while listening to the video. Total Rafa with immense sincerity because it’s passion that trumps everything," said Santoro to L'Equipe.
“I know the efforts that it has required from him for several months to hope for a return, with this uncertainty… It’s colossal to be ready to make these efforts when we have won as much as he has.”
Santoro added: “He’s taking the risk. I’d love for him to go all the way at Roland Garros. It’s a huge challenge. But in my opinion, it’s not even important.
“If he wins Roland Garros, that’s superhuman, once again. But if he doesn’t win many matches, it’s anecdotal. When he comes back, he’s already won. I can’t wait to see him play in Australia… It’s a real buzz.”
