Jack Draper downs Dan Evans in Indian Wells with straight sets victory

Dan Evans tried to keep the rallies long against Jack Draper but the youngster remained calm and battles his way past his compatriot into the 3rd round.

The youngster was a big favourite in this one despite Evans being far better ranked. Draper lost plenty of points in the past few weeks which saw his ranking drop. A the start of last year Draper won a couple of challenger events which he could not defend due to the injury suffered in Melbourne.

Evans too dealt with an injury too lately and it was clear as day that he was very rusty today. Draper was able to control the match relatively easily. Neither player served particularly well but Evans was just not good enough from the baseline. He had over 20 unforced errors, actually just one more than Draper.

The difference was that Draper had a couple more winners than Evans and they came at a better time. In the end a 6-4 6-2 win for Draper who moves on.
