Despite an early Monte Carlo loss to Novak Djokovic, Jannik Sinner cracked the top-20 this week as one of the youngest players to achieve that in the past 20 years.
Heading to Barcelona, Jannik took down Egor Gerasimov, Roberto Bautista Agut and Andrey Rublev to find himself in the semis, becoming the youngest player to achieve that at the prestigious ATP 500 event since Rafael Nadal in 2005!
Battling for a place in the final, Jannik couldn't do much against an in-form Greek Stefanos Tsitsipas, who beat him 6-3, 6-3 to set the title clash against Rafael Nadal.
Barcelona was Jannik's 30th ATP tournament and already the tenth quarter-final, needing fewer tournaments to achieve that than Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer! Besides, the young Italian has played six ATP semi-finals so far, accomplishing that before Novak Djokovic and as the sixth-youngest active player.
