Fans have been proven right, the Swiss player was no match for
Jannik Sinner as the Italian continued his winning streak beating him 6-1 6-3 for the semi-final.
It was a decent match overall but the Swiss veteran failed to match the intensity Sinner brings to his tennis right now. The first set didn't last that long with Sinner smashing his opponent 6-1 to take it. He dominated with his impressive ball-striking ability and Wawrinka simply didn't know what to do with it.
Wawrinka tried to remain aggressive and attack but failed to hit his shots consistently. He had only 3 winners and 8 unforced errors. It was simply not good enough. The second set was quite a bit more competitive as Wawrinka actually broke his opponent once but he was also broken twice which was enough for Sinner to take the second set as well.
Neither was that precise in the second set but overall a solid win for Sinner who was able to secure another semi-final.
