Jannik Sinner joins elite list featuring Novak Djokovic, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal after incredible 2024 season

Italy’s Jannik Sinner managed to round off a fantastic 2024 season, winning the Australian Open, the US Open and the ATP Finals trophy on Sunday. The reigning world number one has been virtually unbeatable all season, recording an impressive 92.1% winning percentage after winning 70 and losing only six. We review the five players with best winning percentages in a season in the last decade.

1. Novak Djokovic (2015)

In 2015, former world number one Serbia's Novak Djokovic had an almost perfect season, with a 93.2% winning rate. The 37-year-old ended up winning 82 matches and lost only six. While doing that, he lifted three Grand Slam titles--Australian Open, Wimbledon and the US Open.

2. Rafael Nadal (2019)

Spain's Rafael Nadal had an exceptional year in 2019, where he finished with a win percentage of 91.3%. The 38-year-old won 58 and suffered only five defeats. While doing that, Nadal won the French and the US Open in 2019.

3. Jannik Sinner (2024)

Third on the list is Italy's Sinner. The world number-round of the year in style in Turin was when he lifted the ATP Finals title for the first time in his career. Other than that, he lifted the Australian Open after beating Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the final in a five-set thriller with a score of 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. He then lifted the US Open title after beating Fritz in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4, 7-5. With those performances, Sinner finished with a win percentage of 92.1.

4. Roger Federer (2017)

Former world number one Switzerland's Roger Federer features on the list in the fourth place. The legendary tennis star had a fantastic 2017 season, where he finished with a 91.1 % win percentage. While doing that, Federer lifted the Australian Open and the Wimbledon title.

5. Andy Murray (2016)

Former world number one Britain's Andy Murray is featured on the list as well. The 37-year-old finished the 2016 season with 78 wins and just eight defeats. He ended the year as the world number one and won the ATP Finals title as well.
