Jannik Sinner moves closer to Novak Djokovic in ATP Race to Olympic Games after Australian Open

Following his historic victory at the 2024 Australian Open, Jannik Sinner has moved closer to Novak Djokovic in the ATP Race to the Olympic Games.
The Italian superstar rallied from a two-sets-to-love deficit to defeat Daniil Medvedev and claim his maiden Grand Slam title on Sunday. Sinner's victory saw him climb up two spots to second space, as she currently sits with 6,215 points. in the Olympics Race. Djokovic still holds pole position, having accrued 7,360 points since the Race began counting points in June 2023.

Alcaraz still in the hunt, Medvedev not too far behind

Wimbledon champion Carlos Alcaraz falls to third place with 5,080 points, as most of his points came from lifting the title at Wimbledon and finishing runner-up in Cincinnati last summer. Medvedev ins in fourth position, and the Russian will compete under a neutral flag at the tournament despite the International Olympic Committee lifting the ban on Russian and Belarusian players to compete in Paris.
American rising star Ben Shelton is in the Top 10 of the Olympics Race, with France's Adrian Mannarino hoping to represent the host country well as he sits in the 11th spot. So far, China's Zhizhen Zhang is the one player who has qualified for the tournament courtesy of winning the Asian Games last year. The Olympic tennis event will be played at Roland Garros, which is home to the French Open.
