Italy’s young tennis star Jannik Sinner put himself on the
list of elite players after his recent achievements in 2023.
The 22-year-old is often regarded as one of the best young talent
around in the men’s singles category along with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and
Italy’s Jannik Sinner.
Sinner had an impressive 2023 where he lived up to the hype
and expectations with some notable results against some of the big-name players
in the game. While doing so, he also secured the joint-most 6-0 and 6-1 sets in
the men’s singles tennis in 2023. He recorded that achievement 25 times. Australia’s
Alex de Minaur also registered 20 such set victories in 2023.
Serbia’s legendary tennis star and the current world number
one Novak Djokovic was second on the list with 21 set victories in the calendar
year. Sinner played a key role in helping Italy in securing their first Davis Cup
title in 48 years as they defeated Australia in the final.
The world number four first ensured that his country remains
in the hunt for a spot in the final after beating Djokovic with a score of 6-2,
2-6, 7-5 in the semifinal of the event. In the all-important finale, Sinner outclassed
Australia’s De Minaur in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-0.
