During the 2020 season, still, only 19-years-old Jannik Sinner proved his great potential and lifted his first ATP trophy.
The young Italian is considered as one of the biggest talents in tennis by many. In 2019, he has won 6 tournaments, including the Next Gen Finals in Milan. In 2020, he has won his first ATP title and broke into the Top 40 of the ATP Rankings. After the season, he said:
“After the final in Sofia, I felt emotional. I am human, but I feel the emotions inside me. I was very happy but I know that I have to work very hard. Before the victory ceremony, I was a bit angry as I was still trying to understand why I had lost the second set. It was a strange season," Sinner admitted. "I would have liked to play more matches and learn more about life on the Tour and how to train with the biggest players on the circuit. I am now feeling more comfortable than last year."
The young Italian also spoke about his free-time activities, when he said: “I like to go karting and play football every now and then. I cheer for AC Milan because my first roommate was an AC Milan fan and he also made me passionate as the days went by,” said Sinner.
On his Instagram account, he also recapped his 2020 season, when he wrote: "And that concludes my season. That’s a wrap 2020. What a moment, my first title, this will always have a special place in my heart. I want to thank all of my team for their constant support and hard work throughout the year, without them none of this would have been possible," Sinner wrote.
"Also to everyone who made the tournaments possible this year during such a difficult time. I want to dedicate this win to all the people back home in Italy and across the world who have suffered during these tragic and difficult months."
