Reigning Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner will be playing in both the singles and doubles events at the 2024 Indian Wells event, which kicked off on Wednesday, March 6 2024.
Indian Wells is considered the "fifth Grand Slam" among fans and is a favorite with players, so it comes as no surprise that the top-ranked players attempt to make their stay more memorable by participating in the singles and doubles event. Tennis greats like Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and even Novak Djokovic have competed in the doubles events over the years, despite being strong favorites to win the singles titles.

Sinner to team with Davis Cup teammate

With there already being great chemistry established between both men, it comes as no surprise that Sinner will team with compatriot Lorenzo Sonego in the doubles event. The duo were part of Italy's historic Davis Cup squad last year, where they helped their home country lift it's first title since 1976. Sinner and Sonego defeated the Serbian team of World No.1 Novak Djokovic and Miomir Kecmanovic in the semifinals, before overcoming Australia in the final.
The Italian duo are set to face the Russian team of Andrey Rublev and Karen Khachanov in the first round of Indian Wells, a formidable pairing who are known for their clean striking and heavy groundstrokes. The Russian players were successful as a team in 2023, winning in Madrid and reaching the semifinal in Beijing. The winner of this exciting first-round clash will face either American stars Ben Shelton and Christopher Eubanks or doubles specialists Marcell Granollers and Horacio Zeballos in the next round.
