The Madrid Open is set to begin in less than two days
and players from all over the world will participate to secure the
ultimate prize. Like every year, the fans wait for a potential quarterfinal
draw which increases the excitement as it is certain to have the best players
battling it out to secure the ultimate prize.
This year, the expected draw for the quarterfinal is out and
it is, as expected, set to excite the fans. The potential lineup could feature
Italy’s
Jannik Sinner going up against Norway’s Casper Ruud, Russia’s Daniil Medvedev
facing Greece’s Stefanos Tsitsipas, Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz facing Germany’s Alexander
Zverev and Russia’s Andrey Rublev facing Spain’s
Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz will be defending his crown in Madrid this year. He
defeated Germany’s Jan-Lennard Struff in the final with a score of 6-4, 3-6,
6-3. Despite winning the competition on two back-to-back occasions, the Spaniard
will be not starting the tournament as a top-seed player. It will be Sinner who
will begin the competition as the top-seeded player. The current world number
two has won the only Grand Slam this year — the Australian Open — after beating
Medvedev in the final with a score of 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3. He later further
went on to win the ATP events in Rotterdam and Miami.
