HALFWAY THERE 👀 @NicoJarry takes the first set on a tiebreak vs Zverev 😳 @genevaopen #atpgva
Nicolas Jarry won a trophy on clay earlier this year in his hometown of Santiago and now he'll contend for another one after beating Zverev in straight sets.
Jarry was always going to be very good in Geneva with his serve greatly benefitting the altitude in the Swiss city. That was the case throughout this event as he had some impressive wins even before this one. To get into the semi-final Jarry downed last year's champion Casper Ruud in three sets and that was an impressive win.
He followed that up with a great performance against Zverev to book another final this year. Once again the serve was crucial, very crucial. He dropped only five points behind his first serve all match long winning 43 of 48 points on it. The second serve was a different story but he didn't have to play many rallies after it due to hitting the first one 70 % of the time.
Jarry also saved the only break point he faced and funnily enough it came in the final game of the match. He also had 7 aces to go along with his impressive showing with the forehand doing the rest. A great win for the Chilean who has a chance to win another trophy this year.
