Carlos Alcaraz was playing amazing tennis at Roland Garros (French Open) but cramps ultimately proved his undoing affecting his play and causing the loss.
It was a great match between Novak Djokovic and Carlos Alcaraz early with a lot of good rallies and intensity. Eventually, though the Spaniard started to cramp which allowed Djokovic to take advantage of that and win 10 games in a row. The Spaniard took two medical timeouts, and a toilet break but nothing really helped as the full-body cramps continued to hamper his movement. Djokovic finished off the match in four sets to book the final.

Words of support from Kyrgios

Kyrgios is a huge fan of Alcaraz and a true believer in his talent. The Australian famously picked Alcaraz to win the 2022 US Open ahead of himself or Medvedev for example and he was proved right when the Spaniard beat Ruud in the final. After this match, Kyrgios took to Twitter to send words of support towards Alcaraz calling it a learning process:
"Feel for Alcaraz. Just a big learning process, pretty sure every tennis player goes through this feeling. Cramping due to nervous energy and the anxiety of playing a match of this magnitude. He will learn how to deal with this in the future for sure. Then we should be scared."
It was a disappointing loss for the Spaniard who confirmed after the match that the pressure got to him a little bit. He tensed up too much which contributed to the cramps and he'll use this as a lesson moving forward. It's not the first time he's dealt with cramping but it's the first time he dealt with such strong ones being unable to navigate it. He'll be better next time as as Djokovic said, he'll win Roland Garros in the future.

Feel for Alcaraz. Just a big learning process, pretty sure every tennis player goes through this feeling. Cramping due to nervous energy and the anxiety of playing a match with this magnitude. He will learn how to deal with this in the future for sure. Then we should be scared🫣
