Darya Kasatkina played a very good match against Elena Rybakina to score the upset victory and reach the next round of Ostrava Open.
Elena Rybakina came to Ostrava in hopes of stringing together a few good matches and possibly lifting another title but Daryna Kasatkina had other plans. The great match lasted almost two hours and the Russian won 6-2 3-6 6-3. Rybakina started the match off very well breaking Kasatkina early taking a 2-0 lead. After that, she started to have serious problems with her serve which allowed Kasatkina to attack her which gave Elena a lot of troubles.
Trying to counter that aggressiveness she made a lot of mistakes giving Kasatkina a double break which she turned into a 6-2 2nd set victory. Her struggled continued in the early 2nd set when she lost her serve once again. Visibly angered shed started hitting balls very aggressively which caught the Russian off guard. Kasatkina could not match Rybakinas intensity and she lost several games in a row. It was enough momentum to carry Rybakina to a victory in the 2nd set which she needed.
Rybakina continued playing well early in the 3rd set breaking Kasatkina to take the 1-0 lead. She would not hold it as the Russian fought back immediately to make it 1-1. Rybakina tried forcing the issue similar to the 2nd set but all she got was mistake after mistake which the Russian used to take a lead. It would prove enough for her to clinch the victory which was ultimately deserved. When Rybakina played her game she was unstoppable for Darya but luckily for the Russian Rybakina made a lot of mistakes. Her play lacked patience and she paid the price for it.
