Karolina Muchova and
Jennifer Brady are through to the next round of the
Ostrava Open following victories over Zhang and Yastremska.
Karolina Muchova played a stunning match in front of her home crowd in Ostrava against Zhang. The Czech player took only 60 minutes to defeat Zhang 6-1 6-1 with both sets lasting 30 minutes apiece. It was a stunning display from the Czech who had no issues and who controlled the match from the start. She served well and she won most of the points on her 1st and 2nd serve. She barely lost any points and she is through to the next round.
In the 2nd match, Yastremska faced off against Jennifer Brady. It was a much more interesting match and the native Czech crowd enjoyed it very much. Yastremska started off better as she won the opening set 6-3. It was mostly a quiet set with both players winning their serve without any issues. Yastremska played better and used her chances in one game to take the break. From there it was rather straightforward for her to win the st 6-3.
The 2nd set was a proper battle as Brady and Yastremska continued to play well. The American struck first taking a break midway through to set. She had a chance to win the set at 5-4 as she served for it but Yastremska broke her to get back into the match. Ultimately the winner was settled in the tiebreak which was won by Brady. The 3rd set was no contest at all as Yastremska fell apart early in the set. Brady continued playing well taking her chances and adding game after game. Not long into the set, the match was practically over and Brady cruised to an efficient 6-1 final set victory.
