Difference of opinion is common within societies and in democracies
all over the world, it is encouraged as well.
That difference, at times, can lead to a passionate debate which
can become a hurdle between friends and at times in close relationships as well.
The same thing also happened in the world of tennis where two
friends
Karen Khachanov and
Andrey Rublev saw their relationship tested after
developing a difference of opinion about their country’s invasion of Ukraine.
The Russian duo have stayed friends for a long time, having
grown together on the ATP tour. However, Russia’s war with Ukraine has sparked
a passionate debate between the two players.
The debate took place reportedly last year in the Serbian
Open that has ended up straining the relationship between Khachanov and Rublev.
The recent report suggested that players had differences of
opinion about the conflict taking place in the country since February last year
which has resulted in casualties on both sides.
Khachanov is not taking part in
Wimbledon 2023 due to a
stress fracture he suffered in the French Open earlier this year.
On the other hand, Rublev has been pretty impressive in the
third Grand Slam of the year as he has already cemented his place in the fourth
round where he will face Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik.
