Spanish tennis player
Paula Badosa was forced to withdraw from
Wimbledon during her match against Marta Kostyuk when she was losing 6-2/1-0.
Badosa suffered from back problems, which led her to make the difficult decision to abandon the match to prevent her injury from worsening.
From the beginning of the match, the Spaniard was clearly outplayed by her rival, who dominated the game from the very beginning.
Badosa lost the first set convincingly and, at the beginning of the second, seeing that her physical condition was not improving, she decided to withdraw from the competition to preserve her health and avoid further complications.
Back problems can be especially debilitating for a tennis player, as they directly affect his or her mobility and performance on the court. Although it was a daunting decision for Badosa, the priority for any athlete is to take care of his or her physical well-being and avoid aggravating existing injuries.
The New York-born player was not in good shape at Wimbledon and, although she made it through the first round, she had no chance against her opponent today, mainly due to back problems that prevented her from performing at the level she would have liked;
