Russia’s tennis player
Karen Khachanov has become a father
for the second time.
The 27-year-old welcomed the baby boy with his wife Veronika
Shkliaeva. The two have been together for more than 12 years and tied the knot back
in 2016.
Khachanov, who became a father for the first time in 2019, announced
the development on his official Instagram account by stating: "12.07.2023
welcome to the world my second baby boy Mikael.”
The news will be a welcome one for the current world number
one who has struggled with injuries in the recent past.
The Moscow-born ruled himself out of Wimbledon 2023
because of a stress fracture in his back. That injury took place during the
French Open fixture earlier in the year.
Despite not winning a Grand Slam in his 10-year-long
professional career, Khachanov has a more than decent record while playing in
the majors.
He has already played in the semi-final of the Australian
Open in 2023 and US Open in 2022 whereas he has played in the quarterfinals of
the French Open — in 2019 and 2023 — and Wimbledon in 2021.
