Karen Khachanov hasn't been told to stop his Artsakh support on Australian Open cameras despite a protest note from the Azerbaijan tennis federation.
The Russian has been writing on the camera's words in support of the Armenian people affected by the conflict in that area of Azerbaijan. His father is Armenian and Khachanov was always proud to point that out having visited the country as well. He has been showing support for Artsakh despite the region being part of Azerbaijan under international law.
The tennis federation of the country issued a protest note to the ITF due to the that perceiving it as a provocation but the Russian revealed he hasn't heard anything in regards to stopping or a ban:
“I didn’t hear anything about that ... so far, no."
Khachanov has been getting support from the Armenian crowd in Melbourne as they wave the Artsakh flags on the stands.
