Thanasi Kokkinakis keeps his title defence in Adelaide alive with some more magic against
Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets 6-3 6-7(4) 6-3.
Thanasi Kokkinakis was pumped up to step onto the court once more in Adelaide as he grew up in the city and loves playing there. His maiden trophy came there last year and he seems keen on doing it again. Taking on Kecmanovic, Kokkinakis jumped out to an early 3-0 lead and from there it was a rather smooth cruise to a 6-3 finish.
Kokkinakis has been serving really well from the start of the season and it was the case in this match as well. Slightly less than usual but still good enough. The second set was one where Kecmanovic finally found his groove and played really well. He didn't face any issues on his own serve and found solutions against Kokkinakis.
Despite that, he only found a breakthrough in the tiebreak 7-4. The final set once again opened with Kokkinakis playing some magical tennis as he jumped out to a 3-0 lead. He continued applying heavy pressure and Kecmanovic fell apart 6-1.
