A very exciting match was played between
Danielle Collins and
Veronika Kudermetova in Adelaide as the American is getting closer to last year's form.
Danielle Collins stunned everybody by making a surprise run at the Australian Open last year ending up in the final and losing to Ashleigh Barty. She's getting very close to that form again this year as she's into the semi-final of the Adelaide event by beating Kudermetova in straight sets. It was a well-played match by both however Collins was simply better in the most important moments.
The players traded early breaks in this one and but Collins was able to add another break which proved enough to win the set 6-4. The second set opened well for both players as neither faced any break points early. Both were looking very comfortable on serve but eventually, Collins ran into some issues.
Kudermetova served for the second set but got broken at the worst possible time to give Collins a chance. Kudermetova faced five match points at 5-6 but survived to send it into the tiebreak. Collins opened up with a 4-1 lead but allowed Kudermetova to battle back and she did taking it 7-5. Kudermetova then smashed Collins 6-1 who completely fell apart after wasting a huge chance in the second set.
