Sebastian Korda has reached his first ATP quarterfinal in Delray Beach continuing his run of good results.
It was not an easy match as he lost the opening set 6-4 but he came to win the next two 6-3 6-2. Korda comes from a tennis family as his father Petr Korda was a former world number 2. Speaking about his run in Delray Beach the popularly called Sebi said:
“It’s special [to make the quarter-finals]. The last time I played here I won the [Boys] 18s Clay Courts, so I have some good memories from here. It’s a special place and the crowd."
When asked what worked for him he said:
“Just the consistency and constantly applying the pressure was super big for me. I returned really well, especially in the second and third sets. I started serving a lot better, so those were probably the biggest things for me: always staying aggressive and picking at his serve a lot.”
He is set to play against fellow American John Isner whom he already beat once in his career. It was at the Roland Garros but now on hard courts, it will be much harder for the 20-year old.
