Nick Kyrgios and
Alexander Bublik are out of the Stuttgart doubles event losing to Martin and Mies in two close tiebreak sets 7-6(5) 7-6(4).
Kyrgios and Bublik cruised in their first-round matchup but faced a stiff challenge in this one. Both of them are also competing in the singles and won their first-round matchups moving on at the event. Kyrgios and Bublik did not play a bad match today but they were simply beaten in two tiebreaks. Both them and their opponents had very few chances in the opening set.
Bublik and Kyrgios got the first break point but failed to convert it. At 6-5 for their opponent, they saved two set points to force a tiebreak but in the tiebreak, they were outplayed. It was fairly close with Kyrgios and Bublik leading 3-2 but losing it 5-7 in the end.
The 2nd set was quite similar as the dup once again played rather well. They forced early break points but could not convert them. Later they saved break points on their serve to force another tiebreak but once again they were not as sharp as they needed to be. Falling back 0-4 was too much to overcome as their opponents stormed to a 7-4 finish.
