Australia earned the first point in the Group F at the 2020 ATP Cup when Nick Kyrgios and Alex De Minaur won their matches in singles.
Earlier today, Greece faced Canada in the first tie in Group F as Auger-Aliassime and Shapovalov
did not lose a set against Greeks to earn their first point. Germany and Australia are favorites of the group played in Brisbane and therefore this tie was important for both.
Kyrgios kicked-off the match against Struff ideally. He broke Struff's service in the 5th game of the first set and did not lose the lead since. The second set was decided in a tie-break that Kyrgios won 7-4.
Kyrgios' countryman De Minaur had a more difficult task as he faced world number 7 Alexander Zverev. The German had a good start into the match when he has won the first set 6-4 and led in the second 4-2. However, De Minaur forced the tie-break in the second set. Since that moment, the Aussie was almost flawless as he has won the tie-break 7-3 and dominated in the second set with a 6-2 victory to give his team 2-0 lead.
Guccione & Peers finished a perfect day for Australia with a victory over Krawietz & Mies in doubles. Duo from Australia won 6-3 and 6-4 in 71 minutes.
