The Special K's brought some down under magic to Georgia getting into the Atlanta Open semifinals after beating Escobar and Reese 6-4 7-6(3).
The singles event for both of these players did not go as they planned it because they are both out of it. Kokkinakis ran into local wild card Andres Martin who smashed him easily in two sets while Kyrgios has an injury. It's unclear what type of problem Nick has but he pulled out of the singles by publicly apologizing to the crowd on the main court.
He did say that he will try and play doubles and he backed it up by taking the court one day later with Kokkinakis for the doubles quarterfinals. They played a strong match to win in straight sets and move on to the semifinals.
Kyrgios looked very good and did not sho any signs of any discomfort. The reason for his earlier pullout described as a knee injury. The victory is their 11th in 13 matches this year and they joked about playing at the ATP Finals together. If they played more events, they could certainly make it.
