Nick Kyrgios and Stefanos Tsitsipa were forced to bury their feud by playing a doubles match at the Diriyah Tennis Cup and they did well albeit not superbly.
It was a fairly decent doubles match in the desert between two pairs that don't play together. Kyrgios and Tsitsipas did play doubles in the past pairing up in Washington a few years ago while Stricker and Hurkacz don't have much experience with each other. It didn't matter for the Polish/Swiss combination as they proved better.
It was a close match that opened with a trade of early breaks as Tsitsipas and Kyrgios took the 1-0 lead but gave it right back. From there it was a rather an easy cruise for both pairings as neither allowed that much. In the tiebreak, it was Hurkacz and Stricker that did better taking it 7-3 to go up 1-0.
The second set was quite similar as neither team had many chances and those that they had were not used. Tsitsipas and Kyrgios hoped to play a better tiebreak this time around but they failed as Hurkacz and Stricker escaped with the second one as well. Overall a decent match for the spectators.
