The third edition of the New York Open will take place this week but without Nick Kyrgios, it has been revealed.

Kyrgios will miss his chance to make his debut in the tournament due to a shoulder injury which is a set back for the Aussie who is back in the top 20 for the first time since 2018 and winning six out of his eight matches so far this year.

It may just be a precaution with him set to play at Delray Beach in two weeks if he recovers but he put the following message about withdrawing.

"Hey, New York Open fans. I'm really disappointed I can't make it this year. I was looking forward to playing on the black courts at NYCB Live. My shoulder has flared up and I'm not able to play. I hope everyone still goes out to see the great tennis at the New York Open."
