Sofia Kenin has claimed the first WTA Player of the Month award for the year after her Australian Open triumph.
Kenin who has made steady progress through the ranks over the past year or so finally fulfilled her promise by claiming the title in Melbourne.
She also claimed a Top 10 debut as a result of winning the title and joins a new age of Grand Slam winners who are showing no fear on the biggest stage at such a young age.
The 21-year old joined her friend, Bianca Andreescu in the winners' circle with the latter only being 19 herself and shows that age is no barrier for success.
Kenin who was no.14 seed in Melbourne defeated the likes of Ashleigh Barty and Garbine Muguruza in the latter stages to claim the Daphne Akhurst Memorial Cup.
This accolade also adds to her breakthrough season in 2019 which saw her claim the WTA Most Improved Player of the Season award and now she looks set to be one of the forerunners going into the rest of 2020.
