Andy Murray's search for a new coach is over and it will be Lendl once again with the legend working with Murray for the 3rd time.
The cooperation was somewhat of a surprise as many did not expect Murray to roll back the years with Lendl once more but in a talk with Sky Sports, former pro Barry Cowan explained why he thinks it could be a good move. He said:
"Well, I thought Andy's next coach would be someone he knew, someone who he is comfortable with. Whenever Murray has appointed a new coach, he's always looked at ti, closely, as someone who can bring someone."
He further said:
"When he first hired Lenld it was very smart. Lendl was there for the extra 1 or 2 % that he needed in the biggest matches. The SItuation is different now, he's in a totally different stage of his career. Probably what he wants Lendl to bring is a little bit more of calmness in terms of what he wants to achieve."
Cowan noted that Lendl will essentially try and control Murray's mindset as someone who still believes himself capable of being number one. In Cowan's mind, that won't happen but in the right circumstances he might be able to have a big event and that event will obviously be Wimbledon. Everything they do, according to Cowan will be with Wimbledon in mind.
