World No.5 Stefanos Tsitsipas is very active on Twitter and very often expresses views and feelings that provoke strong reactions from users of the popular social media, with a recent tweet of his drawing the ire of fans due to it's ill-timing.
The Greek star wrote in a tweet "Malibu is a magical place", which led to a lot of fans and social media users to chide him on the insensitivity of the statement, especially during the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia.
Reactions and negative comments began to fall as many rushed to bring him back to the harsh reality, even reminding him that his mother is from Russia.
"I am happy for you enjoying your time. You worked hard for it. But do you think it’s the right time for these kind of tweets?" said one user.
"Kharkiv is a magical place" wrote another, along with a picture of the city in rubbles.
"His mother is Russian. He did it on purpose 🤮" - said yet another user
"Try showing some empathy for the Ukrainian people" - another responded.
However, others pointed out that life still goes on and that there are multiple warzones across the planet, including in Yemen, Ethiopia and elsewhere.
"Planet earth still exists, but let's face it, we all continue our lives...it does not mean that we are not worried with what is going on." - said a user
"Uhm, yeah, you’re living your life, we’re fine with it. But man this is a bad tweet." - said another.
