Leylah Fernandez will play in the Monterrey final once more as the young Canadian will take on Osorio Serrano.
Fernandez won her maiden trophy in Monterrey last year and she returned this year to try and do it again. After playing a smashing week of tennis, Fernandez is in the final where she will face Osorio Serrano. To get there she had to battle past Haddad Maia and for the most part, she was rather comfortable in the match. COnditions in Monterrey allow her to play attacking tennis and she likes that.
The first set was won with 6-1 and while the Brazilian put up a better effort in the 2nd set it was still not enough for Fernandez. She finished off the job with a 6-4 to move to the final once more. If she wins, she will become the back-to-back champion in Monterrey.
Her opponent in the final will be Maria Camila Osorio Serrano as the Colombian continued to play superb tennis. Also an attacker, Osorio Serrano faced off against an attacker in Nuria Parizzas Diaz and proved better and more consistent. The Spanish player was unable to compete with her opponent in terms of consistency and far too many errors proved her doom.
It was a rather straightforward win for Osorio Serrano with 6-4 6-4 for the final. She will be looking for her 2nd career trophy as well.
