Wimbledon's social media team continue to come under fire with the latest iteration seeing them accused of fabricating quotes by Carlos Alcaraz.
Alcaraz recently made comments about Andy Murray and Roger Federer as well as Novak Djokovic on grass and how in reality, it is difficult for him due to how the latter slides like he is on clay.
"I've always said that you have to move well on grass and from there everything else follows. Speaking for myself, I like to put on videos of [Roger] Federer, of [Andy] Murray, who are among the players that move best on grass," said Alcaraz.
"I'm not going to talk about Djokovic because he slides like he's on clay and that's not going to be the case for me."
But the part about Djokovic was one of the main bits cut out by the social media team in posting the graphic onto their social media. "On grass, you have to move well. I like to watch videos of Federer, of Murray, who move best on grass."
This in turn caused anger and confusion from tennis fans especially given the recent Novak Djokovic snub from posters surrounding the tournament despite being defending champion.
As a result, it has simply added fuel to the fire. One user wrote that they have changed from a social media team to a tabloid.
"Wimbledon needs to change its social media team. Not only are they embarrassing themselves by ill thought promotions, now they are also misinterpreting Carlos’s words. Like the worst kind of tabloids," the user wrote.
Another wrote in regards to Djokovic. "How disgusting and biased you are! You take words out of context just to put someone above Djokovic."
As well as a selection of further replies. "He literally said that sliding like Djokovic is impossible for him, but y'all left that out."
"Kind of unfair on Alcaraz because he first said Djokovic's movement isn’t possible for him to achieve so these are the two that he could try and emulate."

What Carlos said: “On grass one has to move well, I try to copy the best. I watch videos of Federer&Murray, who are the ones who move best on grass. I’m not even going to talk about Djokovic, who can slide on grass as if it were clay, but I won’t be able to copy that.” You…
