While Wimbledon have not faced the media firestorm that was created amid the banning of Russian and Belarusian players this year, they have for a different reason involving Novak Djokovic.
Djokovic is a seven-time Wimbledon champion and has been seen as imperious at the All England Lawn and Tennis Club. He hasn't lost at the tournament since 2017 and has won it on four consecutive occasions.
But was missed out barring for a few seconds from any promo material with Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner for example included for more time.
This saw criticism levied at the social media team and a statement was sought by Sport Klub. They said that they haven't added him more as he is a defending champion.
This instead of being a challenger like Alcaraz, Sinner and also Nick Kyrgios who has his own dedicated section. But they said this also went for Elena Rybakina, the women's champion.
"We are extremely proud that Novak appears in our promotional video and that he is presented as one of the champions that other players should challenge. Creatively, the final scene of the promo spot features several singles players who are positioned as challengers, and therefore there is neither Novak nor Elena at that moment," the statement said to Sport Klub.
But with Djokovic's recent history making antics, they said that they will also utilise that as part of further social media strategy to celebrate him going into the tournament.
"As we get closer to the tournament, and during it, Novak will have a prominent place in our strategy. Also, we're sure fans are delighted to have seen many posts on our social networks in recent weeks celebrating his latest Grand Slam success as well as 'rewinding' to his celebration with family at the Central Stadium."
