Lin Zhu played some amazing tennis to start the year and she's now a WTA champion having defeated Lesia Tsurenko 6-4 6-4 in the Hua Hin Open.
The Chinese player played some amazing tennis at the start of the year demonstrating a lot of fight and a really tricky playstyle to handle. Victoria Azarenka had a lot of issues against her on a court where she played some of the best tennis she ever played and it was not an accident. She continued to play strong tennis after the event going to Hua Hin in Thailand.
She racked up win after win getting to the final where she faced Tsurenko. She was quite lucky to have to face the Ukranian veteran as opposed to Andreescu who suffered a shoulder injury. That was a golden chance for her win the trophy and after a shaky start, Zhu finally got the job done.
She was down a break in the first set having struggled with winning points on her serve but she quickly figured it out and turn around the score in her favour 6-4. The second set was quite similar as she once again managed to play better than her opponent to win her maiden trophy in Hua Hin.
