Francisco Cerúndolo was the main surprise of the Argentina Open when he eliminated the top seed and world number two, Alexander Zverev. The Argentine tennis player achieved one of the most outstanding victories of his career in the quarterfinals of the ATP 250, whose final will be played on Sunday at the Buenos Aires Lawn Tennis Club.

The match, which ended with a score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-2, had to be interrupted for about thirty minutes in the second set due to the persistent rain that fell on Friday over the country's capital.

The best Argentine tennis player in the world ranking, ranked 28th, achieved a spectacular comeback after winning in three sets in a hard-fought duel, where neither player was able to impose his dominance clearly until the final stages of the match.

Zverev, on the other hand, never managed to feel completely comfortable on the court, affected by the humid conditions in Buenos Aires, a factor that added an extra challenge for the German. Despite his extensive track record, which includes 23 ATP titles - eight of them on clay - and a final at the last edition of Roland Garros, the world number two was unable to find his best against a Cerúndolo who took every opportunity to tip the balance in his favor.
