In a new Daily Dose of Social Media, the ATP and WTA Tour off-season continues, with stars taking advantage of their free time before their return to the courts in 2026. The retired Rafael Nadal received a tribute this weekend during the Mallorca vs. Osasuna football match for his contribution as a global sports legend in his hometown. Also receiving a tribute in his home city was Argentine Francisco Cerundolo, who took to social media to give thanks for the honor he received in the Argentine capital of Buenos Aires.
On the other hand, Alexander Zverev shared photos of his vacation alongside his colleague Marcelo Melo as they enjoy their free time in the Maldives. Nadal honored at Son Moix: First recipient of Mallorca's 'Dimoni d’Honor'

The RCD Mallorca Stadium, Son Moix, witnessed one of those days that transcend sports this Saturday, November 29. Rafa Nadal, considered one of the greatest Spanish athletes of all time, received a new recognition, this time outside the strictly tennis realm. The former tennis player was distinguished during the pre-match of Mallorca-Osasuna with the first Dimoni d’Honor, an award created by the club to honor Balearic personalities whose career and values have left an indelible mark on society.
The 22-time Grand Slam champion continues to accumulate recognitions in recent days, just shortly after receiving the Legend Award from the Spanish newspaper AS. It marks one year since the retirement of the 14-time Roland Garros champion. While he has spent most of that time out of the public eye, in recent weeks he has received several tributes for his remarkable career and contribution to Spanish sport.
“Rafa Nadal, first Dimoni d’Honor 👹 Congratulations on an entire career and values that leave an indelible mark on the world of sport and beyond.”

Cerundolo recognized as 'Outstanding Personality' by Buenos Aires legislature

Another player who was honored in his own city was world No. 21 Francisco Cerundolo. The Buenos Aires City Legislature today recognized tennis player Francisco Cerúndolo as an Outstanding Personality in Sports. The 27-year-old Argentine athlete was accompanied by his parents, María Luz and Alejandro, and his sister Constanza in an emotionally charged event. The South American finished the season as the No. 1 Latin American and marks his fourth consecutive year finishing the season inside the top 30, becoming one of the most standout non-European or American players of the last decade.
“Thank you very much Deputy @cromerook for presenting me with the award for Outstanding Personality of the City of Buenos Aires in the field of sports, and to the entire Legislature for making it possible,” he posted on social media. “It is a source of pride for me to represent my country and my city. An absolute honor to have received this distinction. Thanks to everyone who always accompanies me and inspires me to be better every day. A great way to close this 2025.”

Musetti celebrates birth of second son

Lorenzo Musetti announced the birth of his second child with an Instagram post, sharing the details and the name chosen for his son. In a social media post, Musetti shared his happiness regarding the birth of his son on Saturday, November 29, whom they have named Leandro. He is the second child for the Italian world No. 8, who had already become a father in March 2024 to his eldest son, Ludovic, alongside his partner Veronica Confalonieri.
This happy news comes at the end of an excellent season for Musetti, who consolidated his place in the ATP Top 10, finishing the year by qualifying for the ATP Finals, where he secured a splendid victory over Alex de Minaur. He aims to arrive recharged in 2026 after some irregular months due to injuries around the middle of the year. The Italian fell in all three finals contested in 2025, including his first Masters 1000 final at the Monte-Carlo Masters.

No rest for Paolini: Italian star grinds in off-season

Italian Jasmine Paolini shared an update on her training routines in the middle of the off-season. The Italian is not resting in her free time after finishing another great season, showcasing her work in the gym, already thinking about the 2026 campaign. The world No. 8 ended the season with her second consecutive appearance at the WTA Finals—being the only player to appear in both singles and doubles—although she was eliminated in the Round Robin stage in both disciplines.
Regardless, the two-time Grand Slam runner-up can boast a great year in which she managed to maintain the level she brought from 2024 and secured her second WTA 1000 title—doing so on home soil in Rome, beating Coco Gauff. She also added another final in Cincinnati and five semifinals throughout the season. Finishing her second year in the Top 10, the 29-year-old will look to take a step forward in 2026, where she will kick off the season at the United Cup, joining forces with Flavio Cobolli.

Sun, sand, and tennis: Zverev and Melo enjoy traditional Maldives getaway

Alexander Zverev is enjoying his vacation in the Maldives—one of the favorite destinations for ATP and WTA players during the off-season. The German joined his friend and colleague, Brazilian Marcelo Melo, with whom he has shared vacations on the beaches of the Maldives for several years. The world No. 3 didn't just spend his time on the beach, however; he also took advantage of the good weather to enjoy the local tennis courts, partnering with Melo, as well as playing various other sports together over the last few days. The German will return to competitive action with a difficult mission at the start of the year, where he faces the task of defending his run to the final of the 2025 Australian Open.
