Lorenzo Musetti took down
Frances Tiafoe at the
Rome Open finishing the 3rd set on Tuesday after he turned around the match late last night before the rain hit.
Most of this match was played on Monday with Musetti squandering an early lead against Tiafoe who was able to turn things around while playing the villain for the Rome crowd. A few underhand serves didn't amuse the crowd who had a lot of things to say to the American. He didn't care and proceeded to take the opening set 7-5.
The second set saw Musetti play a bit more seriously which allowed him to take a lead and hold it this time around. He was playing a bit better and knew how to attack Tiafoe a bit more after playing a whole set against him. Tiafoe played pretty well overall but he couldn't muster his best level when he needed it.
The final set opened with Musetti handling the rain much better than Tiafoe did. He took an early lead after which the match was abandoned. Upon return today, Musetti continued to play well and from there, it wasn't really too complicated for him to finish things off 6-3. A good win for Musetti on home soil.
