Lorenzo Musetti eases his way past Cilic in Paris

Lorenzo Musetti bounced back from the Basel Open early exit with a sturdy win over Marin Cilic 6-4 6-4 to move on.

Musetti has been playing really strong tennis in the second half of the year and he continued that in Paris Masters with a win over ilic. It was a very comfortable win, probably far more comfortable than Musetti expected as he had a response to anything Cilic tried.

The Croatian has had pretty good runs in Paris before so this easy defeat was somewhat surprising. He was pretty good in this one but he could not hit his serve on a very consistent basis. He hit his first serve only 52 % of the time and he didn't have a very good day on his second serve.

Musetti had similar stats as his first serve did well with his second serve being rather exploitable. He hit is his first serve over 70 % of the time which proved the crucial different. He also played a bit more conservatively limiting the number of unforced errors and it worked.
