Boris Becker and Novak Djokovic have a very good relationship. Becker was his mentor for a while and the former player had heavy praise for Djokovic after his win over Zverev.
Novak Djokovic once again won when it mattered the most as the Serbian took down Alexander Zverev in 5 sets. It was a glorious match that once again saw Djokovic come back from losing the opening set to winning the match. Zverev had a small resurgence in the 4th set winning it and forcing it into a decider but Djokovic came out strong to close it out.
After the match was over, Eurosport tennis analyst Boris Becker said:
“Long live the king. He is an incredible guy, an incredible player. It was a special day, a special night. It was history in the making. Novak Djokovic is still about to rewrite the book.”
Becker also touched upon his next match saying:
“He has the most important match of his life in two days. He’s treating it like it’s his last match. That’s all you can say about it."
When asked what Djokovic has to do in order to win it he said:
He needs to recover now. It was very exhausting against Sascha again. He is 34 years old, his opponent on Sunday is only 25 – you have to put that all in perspective. I think for him it’s about the last match of his life – and that’s how he’ll go in.”
