America’s tennis star
Mackenzie McDonald threw shade at
Italy’s
Jannik Sinner with a post on social media.
The current world number four withdrew from the Paris
Masters citing ‘fatigue’ as a reason before his round of 16 clash against Australia’s
Alex de Minaur.
McDonald, who was defeated by Sinner in the round of 32 in
Paris with a score of 6-7, 7-5, 6-1, took a dig at the young tennis star in a
post on the social media platform Instagram with the caption: “Who isn’t fatigued
out here…. Would’ve loved to play today but too good last night”.
Sinner's withdrawal from the competition drew criticism of
the overall management of the
Paris Masters.
The 22-year-old will now turn his attention to the last
major tournament on the ATP calendar — the Finals — which will be played in
Turin in November.
Sinner is having a more than decent year at the highest
level this year. He won four ATP titles in 2023.
His most recent triumph came in Vienna where he defeated the
current world number three Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the final with a score
of 7-6, 4-6, 6-3.
Other than that, he also won the titles in Montpellier in
February, Toronto in August and Beijing in October.
