"Many can put him in difficulty" says Berrettini about facing Djokovic

Matteo Berrettini lost to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final and the Italian saw firsthand how hard it was to beat him.

The Serbian is one of the hardest players to play at the biggest of stages with his mental fortitude something many highlighted as his biggest strength. Djokovic rarely gets rattled and he showcased that in Wimbledon after dropping the 1st set by coming back to win fairly easily.

Speakinb about playing him, Matteo Berrettini said to La Stampa:

“He (Djokovic) is the strongest, and the one who knows best in certain situations. But it is not taken for granted. Without an audience, two sets out of three and with the expectations that are found, it is not an easy task. Many can put him in difficulty."

Berrettini also understood that while the task is very hard, it's not impossible and he believes many could trouble him at the Olympic Games.

“I entered the field thinking that I could win [the Wimbledon final]. Novak is number one, and the one that makes me play worse for technical characteristics. Even after [winning] the first set I knew the road was long, but I think I took a little step forward. Now I know it is difficult, but not impossible.”
