Carlos Alcaraz's participation in the
China Open 2024 in Beijing has started this Friday, September 27th with his first round match against Frenchman Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard.
The Spaniard easily disposed of the world number 51 by 4-6, 4-6, and advances to the second round of the tournament, where he will face Tallon Griekspoor of the Netherlands.
Alcaraz saves 3 break points to win first set
In the first set, Carlitos only needed the first game of the match to take the lead in the scoreboard by breaking his opponent's serve. At 30-40, the Spaniard didn't miss his first break point, and then confirmed the break with ease to make it 0-2.
From that moment, the set would not have much more jeopardy until the final game, where Alcaraz served to win. There, the player from Murcia was 0-40 down, with Perricard having 3 break points to tie the score and stay alive in the set. However, Carlitos chained four consecutive points together to turn the situation around and take the first set 4-6.
Much of the same as Alcaraz sals win
In the second set, the plot was going to develop in a similar way to the first. Carlos Alcaraz started by breaking Giovanni Perricard's serve again in his first break point at 30-40. The Spaniard only needed to convert the two break opportunities he had in the match to take it.
On this occasion, the confirmation of the break came with a hold by Alcaraz, which left him 0-2 up. From then on, nothing changed. Both players were winning their service games without offering break opportunities to their opponents, until at 4-5 came the decisive game with Carlitos serving to win the match. This time, the only difference with respect to the first set was that Alcaraz did not give any break point to Mpetshi Perricard, and the Spaniard closed the game to pass through into the second round with another 4-6.
