The superb form of Carlos Alcaraz during the Davis Cup and the Laver Cup continue in a China Open where the player from Murcia has already qualified for the quarterfinals of the ATP event.
Alcaraz has overcome Tallon Griekspoor in the round of 16 of the Beijing 2024 Tournament. The Spaniard defeated the Dutchman by a score of 1-6, 2-6, and will face Russian Karen Khachanov for a place in the semifinals.
Carlitos wanted to get off to the best possible start, and not give any option to Griekspoor. To do so, he started by winning his first game on serve, to immediately after get the first break of the match in his second break point.
Then, Alcaraz chained another 3 games in a row (including a break at 0-3) to get 0-5 on the scoreboard of a first set practically completed. Griekspoor managed to win at least one game with his serve, but Carlitos did not fail serving to win the first set, which closed by a resounding 1-6.

Alcaraz doesn't drop the level in the second set

In the second set, although Tallon Griekspoor started winning his first game on serve, Carlos Alcaraz wanted to close his victory early. To do so, the Spaniard began by breaking his opponent's serve at 1-1, and after a blank game to confirm the break and go 1-3, he dealt another hard blow to the Dutchman with his serve.
After this second break, Carlitos confirmed the break to take 1-5, and on his opponent's serve he would have his first match point at 30-40. Even so, Griekspoor was going to take some grit to turn the situation around, and at least take the honor of winning that game and force Alcaraz to close the match with his serve. The Spaniard did not fail, won the set 2-6, and qualified for the quarterfinals of the China Open.
